Chrome Axle Covers & Hub Covers — Semi Truck Buyer's Guide
Why Chrome Axle Covers Matter
Axle covers (also called hub covers or wheel covers) are one of the highest-impact chrome upgrades you can make. They cover the hub area of your wheels and create a clean, polished look that's visible from every angle.
Front vs. Rear Axle Covers
- Front axle covers: Typically 3-piece kits (cover + 2 rings) that fit over the hub and lug nuts
- Rear axle covers: Available in 2-piece and 3-piece kits. Rear covers need to account for the axle shaft
Steel Wheel vs. Aluminum Wheel
This is the most important fitment question. Steel and aluminum wheels have different hub configurations:
- Steel wheel: Covers sit flush against the flat hub face
- Aluminum wheel: Covers must accommodate the recessed hub design
Many kits come in steel/aluminum or universal versions — always check before ordering.
Dome vs. Pointed
- Dome: Smooth, rounded appearance. Clean and classic.
- Pointed: Aggressive look that matches spike lug nut covers. Popular for show trucks.
Installation
Most axle cover kits install in minutes with basic hand tools. Watch the United Pacific installation video on our product pages for step-by-step guidance.
