Its classic lines, massive grille opening, and wide front end were practically designed to showcase chrome. Whether you're running a W900L or W900B, this guide covers every major chrome upgrade and the best order to install them.
Priority 1: Chrome Bumper
The front bumper is the centerpiece of any W900 chrome build. Factory bumpers are typically painted steel — a chrome replacement transforms the entire front end in a single upgrade.
Options:
- Full chrome steel bumper: Heaviest and most durable. Triple-chrome plated over steel for a deep mirror finish. Expect 80–120 lbs depending on style.
- Chrome bumper with fog light cutouts: Most popular — maintains the factory fog light positions while upgrading to chrome.
- Texas-style bumper: Extended bumper with extra chrome real estate. Popular with show trucks.
Installation requires removing the factory bumper (4–6 bolts per side) and bolting on the replacement. A second pair of hands makes alignment easier. Allow 1–2 hours.
Priority 2: Chrome Grille
The W900's grille is one of the largest in the Class 8 segment — a chrome grille makes a massive visual impact. Options include:
- Full grille replacement: Complete chrome grille assembly that replaces the factory unit
- Grille inserts: Chrome bars or mesh that fit inside the existing grille frame

The W900's dual air intake stacks on each side of the hood are prime chrome territory. Chrome air intake covers slip over or replace the factory units and add a polished accent that catches light from every angle.
